Neighborhood Living at Mercy Gardens in Savannah Georgia

Completion of Phase 6 to the Savannah Gardens neighborhood is upon us! Currently under construction, the 20 buildings in Phase 6 will offer affordable and energy-efficient housing to this Savannah community. Formerly known as Strathmore Estates, the 44-acre property is being redeveloped by Mercy Housing Southeast, Community Housing Services Agency (CHSA) of Savannah, and the City of Savannah. This team effort will provide more opportunity for residents to rent or purchase in the Savannah area. Funded by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), the continual development of Mercy Gardens will add a combination of 85 duplexes, apartments, and townhomes, giving many families in the Savannah area a place to call their very own.

Engineers and Contractors completing work on the project include, Thomas & Hutton, RFB Contractors, Woda Cooper Companies, and Atlas Surveying. Atlas Surveying completed stakeout of the building foundations for Woda Cooper Companies. Atlas Surveying has also partnered with RFB Contractors to complete the foundation surveys with elevation certificates as well as completing the final site as-built surveys. This project is progressing as anticipated and is on target to be completed in the Fall of 2021.

The DCA awarded the 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) to assist with the funding of the project. Current units in the Savannah Gardens community are available and applications are being accepted at the leasing office.
