Kroger Grocery Store

The Bluffton, SC, community is abuzz about a massive new Kroger grocery store that will anchor a mixed-use development at Buckwalter Place.

Atlas Surveying was hired by Cleland Site Prep — to provide construction staking of the parking lot, water, sewer and storm water systems — and Grand Oaks Construction for layout of the building foundations. Additionally, Atlas provided utility as-built surveys. The 113,000-square-foot Kroger will be one of the company’s new Marketplace stores. In addition to grocery items, the store will offer such amenities as a drive-thru pharmacy, fuel center, Fred Meyer Jewelry, Starbucks, a Chef on the Run prepared-foods station and apparel department.

The new Kroger — which will be more than two times larger than the Publix grocery store on the southern end of Buckwalter Place — will anchor an outdoor mall with retail, restaurant and residential space on the 34-acre tract on the northern side of the development. The new Kroger Marketplace store is expected to create approximately 250-300 jobs, and is tentatively scheduled to open in Fall 2017.
